Giselle can be described as a very haughty and proud individual, yet boasts a talent of attracting people to their performances. They put much importance in elegance and dignity, taking on a gentlewomanly role in society. Despite following chivalrous conduct, that is not to say they lack a traditionally feminine aspect. Giselle is an avid follower of cuisine, fashion and art and is often seen frequenting patisseries, museums and boutiques.

Giselle was five years old when her talent of dance and fluid movement was discovered. She was scouted by former Prima Ballerina "Madame" Nikola Cen Harmonia, headmistress and founder of the prestigious Harmonia Institute of Performing Arts. Giselle thrived under her tutelage and was invited to perform for the Garlean royal court at the age of nine. They grew very close as Giselle's career progressed.

The careers of performers never last long, with their bodies eventually unable to keep up with the demands. Upon graduation, Giselle joined the famous Opus Ballet Company and reached the peak of her career at age twenty three, earning her the Garlean title of "Cen." During her tenure, she scored many lead roles and even began to try her hand at figure skating; a popular sport in Garlemald's cold climate. She eventually earned the nickname "Ice Butterfly" due to her nimble and quick movements, elegance and dignified style of choreography. Giselle retired at 28, prepared to settle into a teaching role at her alma mater and marry her fiance.

Not much was left behind when the riots sent Garlemald to its knees. The Harmonia Institute was burned down and Giselle lost both her fiance and mentor. She took refuge in Tertium with the remaining survivors until aided by Eorzeans. Initially not very welcoming to the newcomers and thinking of herself above assistance, Giselle eventually caved; sharing a hearth and home with Eorzeans. They decided to accompany the charity back to Eorzea in the hopes of reopening her alma mater and carry on the school's legacy.

Who could ever want to call upon a young child...? Curious, innocent eyes fell upon an older woman with a stern disposition, as if she had never laughed in her life. Her lips were thin and puckered as if she had a lemon in her mouth, and brow in a permanent furrow as she nodded at the child.
"Very good. Some polishing to do, but I shall make you into a star."
The child had no idea what that meant, but she was very curious.

( Verse II ) the academy

"One, two, three. One, two, three."
Beautiful music floated throughout the studio where many girls danced. Stoic and focused on their movements - never breaking a single sweat as each step, pirouette, and movement was executed flawlessly.
"Higher!" the instructor snapped at the students. "Why can't you go as high as Giselle?!"
Compliments were rare in the institute, and to be compared to was the highest praise one could receive. Only then Giselle felt it safe to breathe.

( Verse III ) the curtains rise

Hundreds of eyes watched every move ruthlessly, eager to pick out a flaw or shortcoming. Nothing but perfection was allowed to exist upon that stage. It did not phase Giselle cen Cygnus, for her standard for herself was far higher than those of the audience.
Thunderous applause filled the opera house as the curtains gave way for the dancer standing center stage for their debut role as Odette of Swan Lake. She bowed deeply, feeling nothing but relief.
